Will My Custom T-Shirts Shrink?

Will My Custom T-Shirts Shrink?

Short answer: Yes—just a little. But not enough to stress over.

Most of our shirts are made from pre-shrunk cotton or cotton blends. Pre-shrunk means the fabric has already been treated to reduce how much it changes after washing. That doesn’t mean no shrinkage—it just means less and more predictable shrinkage. For example, the sleeves and body will shrink at the same rate, and the shirt won’t twist or warp.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • 100% Cotton: Around 5–7% shrinkage

  • Cotton/Poly Blends: About 3–5%

  • 100% Polyester: No shrinkage at all

We get it—if you’re planning a large order for an event or team, the idea of shirts shrinking might sound stressful. But the truth is, most people already know their t-shirt size, and the minor shrinkage that happens after washing isn’t enough to change the fit dramatically.

Still worried?
You’ve got options:

  • Order a blank sample first, wash and dry it, and see how it fits.

  • Or simply wash in cold water and line dry to avoid shrinkage altogether.

Bottom line: Don’t overthink it. Pre-shrunk means reliable sizing—and for most people, their normal shirt size works just fine.
