Tie dye t-shirts—either you love them, or you're not a fan. I'll admit it—I’ve always fallen into the “not a fan” category. Bright colors? Drawing attention? Definitely not my style. A few years ago, when Katie from our Customer Service team suggested we add tie dyes to our product offering, I thought it was a gimmick. I couldn't imagine there’d be much interest.
I was dead wrong.
Tie dye shirts are really popular. Yes, they’re pricier than your average t-shirt, but that hasn’t been an issue for the die-hard tie dye enthusiasts out there. From team sports to summer camps, schools, and even rehabs, tie dye t-shirts are a go-to for a surprising range of organizations. And you know who else swears by tie dyes? Ben & Jerry’s. Their entire team rocks the classic rainbow spiral tie dye. For a company with deep values around sustainability and community, those shirts are no accident—they’re a conscious choice that reinforces their identity and fosters connection.
What if the next time a contractor came to my house, they were wearing a custom tie-dye company logo shirt? Or maybe my landscaper showed up with one, or even the front desk staff at my dentist's office? It’s not something you see every day, but honestly, I wouldn’t think any less of them—in fact, I’d probably think more. It would stand out, seem approachable, and even give off a sense of trust and creativity. A fun, vibrant tie-dye shirt with a company logo feels welcoming and personal—it’s the kind of touch that makes an interaction that much more memorable.
And that got me thinking—why do so many groups and brands gravitate toward tie dye? Is it about team spirit, unity, hope, or just the sheer fun of those vibrant, swirling patterns? At Bolt Printing, our own culture is rooted in unity, collaboration, and having fun (our mantra is “Own It, Love It, Collab It”), yet somehow, we’ve never chosen tie dye for our team shirts.
But what if we did? Imagine showing up to an event or meeting where our team donned Bolt-branded tie dye tees. Would it stand out? Absolutely. Would it make us memorable? For sure. And maybe—just maybe—it would help us connect with people on a deeper level by showing off our fun side.
I know this much—our next Bolt team shirt is going to be tie dye, and we can’t wait to share the results. Once those shirts are ready, we’ll post a team photo and you can tell us what you think!
